Will of Edward Veness, 1803 (complete)

This last Will and Testament of me Edward Veness of the Parish of Ashburnham in the County of Sussex Batchelor made this fifteenth Day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three My Estate and Effects I give and dispose of as follows First to Samuel my Brother I give and bequeath the sum of one hundred Pounds of lawful Money of Great Brittan If my Brother Samuel doth not live to want it I first give to John Veness of the Parish of Dallington the Sum of ten Pounds I allso give to Isass Veness of the Parish of Ashburnham the Sum of ten Pounds the Remainder Part of that hundred Pounds is to be equally divided betwixt Samuel Veness my Nevi and Edward Veness my Nevi now I also give unto Samuel Veness five Dauththers fifty Pounds of lawful Money of Great Brittan equally divided now I allso give to Samuel Veness four Sons eigty Pounds to be equally divideed I allso wou'd have Thomas Veness shou'd have his Part according as my Executors think proper (Edward Veness (LS) I allso give unto my Sister Apps the Sum of five Pounds of lawful Money of Great Brittan to be given as my my Exesutors think propper I also give to my Brother John Veness the Sum of five Pounds of lawful Money of Great Brittan I allso give unto my Nevi Edward Veness my best Watch I allso give unto the Son of John Veness of Dallington my other Watch I allso give unto Samuel Veness one Pair of silver Buckwels I allso give unto John Veness his Brother the other Pair I allso give unto Mary Veness the Dauther of Samuel Veness my Tea kettle one set of Spoons and Cups I allso give unto Elizabeth Veness the Wife of John Veness of Dallington my other Set of tea thing Spoons and Tongs If any of my Property should be lost or wasted every one is to loose apart according in Proposion to what I have given them I further wish for Edward Veness to pay to his Brother Samuel the Interest Money that he pays me out of his Part from the [?Tenor] that this Will was made (Edward Veness (L.S) after all Legacyes be paid of the Remainder Part is to be equally divideed betwixt John Veness of Dallington and Samuel Veness Junr and Edward his Brother And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint John Veness Dallington and Samuel Veness Junr joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and make void all former Wills or Legacyes by me heretofore by me in any wise left or made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament written on three sheets of Paper unto two Witnessess whereof the preceding or first Sheet I have set my Hand and to the last my Hand and Seal The Day and Date first above written - Edward Veness (L.S) - Saml Waters - James Trill -.

The Will of Edward Veness late of Ashburnham within the Archdeaconry of Lewes deceased was proved the thirty first Day of May in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three Before the Reverend Thomas Fuller Clerk Surrogate and so forth Upon the Oaths of John Veness and Samuel Veness the Younger the joint Executors in the said Will named To whom was committed the Administration of the Goods &c They being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and so forth (Sworn also that the Goods Chattels and Credits &c do not amount in value unto three hundred Pounds).
